Donation after the Decimal Point
The "Small Change" Action
The Donation After the Decimal Point
Who really cares utterly and exactly down to the last cent how much he or she earns? The idea of payroll giving or “small change action” can be very appropriate in many cases. Ask your colleagues or employees if they would forgo the cents after the decimal point in order to donate this small portion of their monthly salary to SOS Children’s Villages. It’s usually a matter of 1 – 99 cents.
If you initiate this action, it is always best to involve employee representatives. The action should be voluntary by all means, so that the remaining cents are only automatically kept back and passed on by payroll accounting on receipt of the corresponding approval.
All can participate in this action without bothersome effort, and the mutual commitment will strengthen the common bond in the company. It’s especially motivating if management rounds off or doubles the donation amount. It is important to regularly communicate results so that employees learn what is achieved with the help of their donations.
